WILL OF THE ASATRU NATION
A MANIFESTO
Asatru, also known as Odinism, Nordic Tradition, Germanic/ Teutonic or Viking religion, is Europes one and only indigenous religion. While Asatru suffered severe set-backs through the Christian onslaught across Europe and the rest of the world, many aspects of our sacred faith have been kept alive over the centuries, In more recent years thanks to a phase of pagan/ Heathen revival , they have been brought back into the public domain once again.
While it is important to honour and keep alive the old Traditions, and conduct as much research as possible into the lifestyle and history of our ancestors, it is evenly, if not even more so important to create our own 21st Century Odinist Mythos, based upon our very own experiences in life, our hopes, our fears and the environment we are living in.
Our most sacred entity is Mother Earth, also known as Midgard. Without the Mother (Midgard) there would have been no Nordic Gods, no mankind, no plant or animal kingdom, In fact, without the Mother, this planet would be as dead as the cold ash in your fireplace. We are the children of Midgard, She is the mother who guides us through life, protects and feeds us. We, Midgards children, are the Nation. The Nation not only includes all humans, regardless of gender, sexual preference, ethnic background or nationality, but also all animals and plants. After all, plants and animals are children of the same Mother as we are, consequently they are brother or sister organisms to the human race.
As individual human members of the nation, we aspire to be one with the mystery underlying the entirety of Midgard. Or expressed in simpler terms, we aim to discover, awaken, advance, and tap into our own personal inner-God(dess) force. We achieve this very important aspect of our individual contribution to the Will of The Asatru Nation (Asatru Nation) through spiritual exploration of our ancient and modern traditions.
Apart from a spiritual aspect, there is also a fighting or warrior aspect in Asatru Nation expressed in our uncompromising stand for social justice, civil rights, and the preservation, restoration and enlargement of our natural environment.
Asatru Nation stands for spiritual renewal on Midgard. Inspired by the Will, the Nation will break the bondage chains imposed on us by the enforcers of various aspects of the monotheistic male God. But Asatru Nation will also inspire a political renewal. Asatru Nation is neither conservative, nor liberal, nor socialist in spirit. Nor are we the pawns of the radical left or the extreme right. Guided by the Will, the Nation will discover and create its own political identity and agenda, totally autonomous from the current corrupt political establishment and its radical outer fringes.
Asatru Nation abhors all forms of dictatorship, censorship, oppression, thought control or bigotry. The term “taboo” does not exist within the concept of Asatru Nation. The Nation’s moral code is summarized in our Nine Noble Virtues, these being: courage, truth, honour, fidelity, discipline, hospitality, industriousness, self-reliance, and steadfastness.
Will Of The Asatru Nation is not “just another religion”, nor is it some vague political concept. Asatru Nation is a modern and new philosophy holding the balance between ancient and modern traditions, dedicated to our Nordic Gods and Goddesses, protecting, advancing and expanding our natural environment.
